{"id":1358,"date":"2019-09-29T12:20:21","date_gmt":"2019-09-29T18:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joannadunlap.com\/5665fall19\/?p=1358"},"modified":"2019-09-29T12:20:31","modified_gmt":"2019-09-29T18:20:31","slug":"is-knowledge-acquired","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joannadunlap.com\/5665fall19\/2019\/09\/29\/is-knowledge-acquired\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Knowledge Acquired?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Connectivism is a learning theory that knowledge is not acquired and that learning and knowledge rests in diversity of opinions.\u00a0 Stephen Downes, one of the founders of Connectivism, stated in his blog post \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/halfanhour.blogspot.com\/2007\/02\/what-connectivism-is.html\">WHAT CONNECTIVISM IS<\/a>\u201d in 2004 that\u00a0 &#8220;at its heart, connectivism is the thesis that knowledge is distributed across a network of connections, and therefore that learning consists of the ability to construct and traverse those networks&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I both agree and disagree with this theory.\u00a0 Knowledge can still be acquired, and should still be acquired, through self learning.\u00a0 Knowledge starts somewhere, it does not appear spontaneously.
